The Delhi Capitals were beaten by newcomers Gujarat Titans in match number 10 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season on Saturday. Batting first, GT managed 171/6 in 20 overs. Shubman Gill hammered a solid 84-run knock. In response, DC were 34/3 before offering a fight. However, GT hit back and got the job done. Lockie Ferguson bowled superbly.

GT lost Matthew Wade early on before Shubman and Vijay Shankar added 42 runs. After Shankar's departure, Shubman joined hands with Hardik Pandya and the two put on 65 runs. Gill departed for 84 before cameos from David Miller and Rahul Tewatia helped GT get past 170. For DC, Mustafizur Rahman was terrific. He claimed figures worth 3/23.
How did DC's innings pan out?
DC needed a strong start but their top three failed to show any composure, leaving the side reeling at 34/3. Lockie Ferguson claimed two wickets. From there on, skipper Rishabh Pant and Lalit Yadav added a valiant partnership to bring the side back into the match. However, Lalit was run-out and GT got back. They claimed a second successive win in IPL 2022.
Gill gets past 1,500 IPL runs
Gill hammered 84 from just 46 balls. His knock was laced with six fours and four sixes. He enjoyed a strike rate of 182.61. He has now surpassed the 1,500-run mark in IPL (1,501). This was Gill's 11th IPL fifty. Pandya slammed a crucial 31 for GT. He has raced to 1,540 runs in the IPL.
Feats attained by Ferguson and Rashid
Lockie Ferguson (4/28) now has 28 wickets in the IPL. He claimed his maiden four-wicket haul. He has now recorded the third-best bowling figures in IPL 2022 after Wanindu Hasaranga (4/20) and Umesh Yadav (4/23). Rashid Khan (1/30) has raced to 95 IPL wickets. He has equaled the tally of Chris Morris and Axar Patel. Rashid now has 16 wickets versus DC at 19.00.
Notable numbers for Pant
Rishabh Pant hit 43 for his side. He hit seven fours in an entertaining knock. Pant has raced to 2,542 runs in the IPL at 34.82. As per Cricketpedia, Pant has now been dismissed by Ferguson on two occasions in the IPL.
