IPL 2022 Auction: Shimron Hetmyer bought by RR
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Saturday saw West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer be bought by Rajasthan Royals. The Royals spent a whopping Rs. 8.5 crore for the services of Hetmyer. The southpaw was released by Delhi Capitals earlier. Hetmyer will aim to show his pedigree for RR in the middle-order. He had earlier played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Shimron Hetmyer has played 31 games in IPL and scored 517 runs at 25.85. He has maintained a strike rate of 151.17. He has two fifties under his name in the tournament. He scored 242 runs in IPL 2021 in 14 games at 34.57 while maintaining a strike rate of 168.05. He struck just one fifty last season.
RR had retained these players
The inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals retained just three cricketers during the players' retention. The Rajasthan based team's first retention was their skipper Sanju Samson (Rs. 14 crore). They secured the services of England's wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler for Rs. 10 crore. RR are paying Rs. 4 crore to young and upcoming Indian star Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Besides Hetmyer, the Royals have added Devdutt Padikkal in the side for a whopping Rs. 7.75 crore. They also got the services for New Zealand star Trent Boult for Rs. 8 crore. RR have also bought veteran Indian spinner R Ashwin for Rs. 5 crore.
