IPL 2022: LSG sign Andrew Tye as Mark Wood's replacement
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have roped in Australian seamer Andrew Tye as a replacement for England's Mark Wood for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The latter was ruled out of the tournament with an elbow injury. Tye has represented Australia in 32 T20Is. He has been a part of Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Lions in the IPL.

England fast bowler Mark Wood was ruled out of the IPL after suffering an injury on his right elbow during the ongoing Test series between West Indies and England. Wood, who was set to play for the new franchise, LSG, will take an indefinite break to assess and plan his recovery. LSG had bought Wood for Rs. 7.5 crore at the mega IPL auction.
A look at Tye's IPL career
Australia's Andrew Tye made his IPL debut in the 2017 season, for Gujarat Lions. He picked a five-wicket haul in his debut game, against Rising Pune Supergiant. Tye, who has been a limited-overs specialist, bagged the Purple Cap in 2018. He scalped 24 wickets at an average of 18.67 in that season (PBKS). Overall, Tye has accounted for 40 IPL wickets at 21.80.
LSG's fast-bowling arsenal
Tye joins the pace batter of Lucknow, which comprises of Avesh Khan, Dushmantha Chameera, and Ankit Rajpoot Avesh was the second-highest wicket-taker of the IPL 2021, while Chameera has been the mainstay pacer for Sri Lanka of late. Rajpoot is also a specialist fast-bowling option. The trio will be backed up by all-rounders Jason Holder, Marcus Stoinis, and Kyle Mayers.

LSG to face Titans in opener
Lucknow Super Giants start their IPL 2022 season against Gujarat Titans on March 28. It would be the fourth match of the IPL season. The match will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai (7:30 PM IST).
