IPL 2021, RR beat KKR at the Wankhede: Records broken
Rajasthan Royals beat Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 18 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season on Saturday. KKR were abysmal with the bat, managing just 133/9 in 20 overs on a decent surface at the Wankhede in Mumbai. Chris Morris claimed four wickets. In reply, RR chased down the paltry target in style. Here's more.
How did the match pan out?
KKR had a dismal period in the powerplay overs, managing 25/1. They were reduced to 61/4 and never really got the move on. Nobody went on to take the initiative in batting sensibly as RR pacers seized control. In reply, RR were 40/2 before gaining a significant six-wicket victory. KKR suffered a fourth straight defeat to go bottom of the pile.
Tripathi gets past Hayden
Rahul Tripathi scored a 26-ball 36 for KKR. The right-handed batsman became the second cricketer after Nitish Rana to cross the 100-run mark for KKR this season (127). He was joined by Andre Russell later on (108). Tripathi now has 1,115 runs in the IPL, getting past the tally of Matthew Hayden (1,107).
Terrific Morris scripts these feats
Chris Morris (4/23) was terrific with the ball. The RR all-rounder has raced to nine wickets this season (joint-second highest). He has now registered his joint-best bowling figures in the IPL. The right-arm pacer now has four four-wicket hauls in the tournament. Overall, Morris has 89 wickets at 23.38. He has equaled the tally of former spinner Pragyan Ojha in terms of wickets.
Samson gets past Yuvraj's tally
Sanju Samson played a fine innings for RR. The wicket-keeper batsman has now surpassed Yuvraj Singh's tally (2,750) in the IPL. Samson has gone past 350 runs against KKR in the tournament as well.
