IPL 2021, Spinners help CSK beat RR: Records broken
A stunning effort from spinners guided Chennai Super Kings to victory against Rajasthan Royals in the 12th game of IPL 2021. Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja worked in tandem as CSK managed to defend 188 at Wankhede. This turned out to be a special game for MS Dhoni, who led CSK for the 200th time in T20 cricket. Here are the records broken.
How did the match pan out?
CSK made a patchy start after RR invited them to bat. The likes of Faf du Plessis (33), Moeen Ali (26) and Ambati Rayudu (27) got decent starts, but couldn't capitalize. Eventually, an 8-ball 20 by DJ Bravo powered the Super Kings to 188/9 in 20. The Royals started well, but the CSK spinners completely jeopardized them. And, they could manage only 143/9.
The pick of Rajasthan bowlers
Left-arm seamer Chetan Sakariya is turning out to be the find of the tournament. He was on the charge against the CSK batsmen today. Sakariya broke the vital Rayudu-Raina stand in his third over. He dismissed the duo in the same over, bringing back the momentum for RR. Sakariya remained the pick of RR bowlers by registering figures of 3/36.
Dwayne Bravo achieves this historic feat
Bravo's blistering cameo helped the Yellow Army post a challenging total. He fired an unbeaten 20 off eight balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six. Notably, Bravo finished the CSK innings with a huge maximum. The Caribbean all-rounder has become the first player in the IPL history to complete the double of 1,500 runs and 150 wickets.
Jadeja provided two quick breakthroughs in one over
Jos Buttler looked in terrific touch right from ball one in the run-chase. He even smashed the first ball of innings to four. The English batsman appeared set to slam his 12th half-century. However, a stunning delivery from Ravindra Jadeja got rid of him (49). On the last ball of same over, Jadeja dismissed Shivam Dube (17) too.
Moeen Ali bowled a magical spell
All-rounder Moeen Ali delivered a similar spell in the middle phase. He dismissed the dangerous David Miller, who had smashed a half-century in the previous game. The English all-rounder then emanated the batting collapse of Rajasthan Royals. He uprooted Riyan Parag and Chris Morris in the same over. Eventually, Ali finished with incredible bowling figures of 3/7.
