IPL 2021: CSK post 191/4 against RCB at the Wankhede
Chennai Super Kings managed 191/4 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in match number 19 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season on Sunday. Opting to bat first, CSK got a strong start before losing their way in between. However, they ended on a decent note, getting past 190. RCB will be hoping to get past the target. Here's more.
CSK get a decent start in first six overs
The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis gave CSK a decent start in the first six overs. They added 51 runs in the powerplay overs. Faf took the initiative and was more aggressive getting a 19-ball 27. Meanwhile, Ruturaj scored an 18-ball 22. The two batsmen hit eight boundaries between them (4s 7, 6s 1).
Harshal hands CSK a double blow in the 14th over
After Ruturaj's wicket, Faf and Suresh Raina added 37 runs for the second wicket. Faf brought up his fifty as Raina looked good, hitting three sixes and a four in his 24-run knock. In the 14th over, IPL 2021's Purple Cap holder Hashal Patel claimed both players' wickets. Raina went for an expansive shot and was caught. The next delivery had Faf dismissed.
Jadeja's heroics see CSK end strongly
The manner in which RCB hit back after CSK were off to a strong start is laudable. Getting two set batsmen out was key. In the 16th over, CSK smashed 17 runs before RCB hit back, keeping things under control. However, the last over produced fireworks as Harshal was belted for 37 runs in the final over. Jadeja went berserk, hitting a fifty.
RCB control the middle overs
Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Rayudu put on 31 for the next wicket before the latter was dismissed for 14 by game-changer Harshal. Rayudu's attempted slog sweep simply did not got the desired connection and he was caught. Harshal was terrific and claimed three wickets.
