IPL 2020: List of players traded ahead of auction
The trading window of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) has come to an end, as a total of 11 players have been traded so far. Following this, the franchises would now release some players in order to compete in the auction for a fresh set of players. Meanwhile, we take a look at the players traded so far, besides analyzing some top trades.
Ravichandran Ashwin switches his base to the capital
Undoubtedly, the top-most trade during the window has to be in the form of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who moved to Delhi Capitals (DC) from Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). While he was roped in for Rs. 7.6 crores during IPL 2018, he was named KXIP's skipper. He played 28 matches, claiming 25 wickets at a poor average of 32.40, failing to reach playoffs.
Ajinkya Rahane, too, follows Ashwin's footsteps to the capital
Next up is the Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who too has been involved in a shock trade from Rajasthan Royals (RR) to Delhi. Rahane, who was roped in by Rajasthan in 2011, has since featured in 100 matches for the side, scoring 2,810 runs at a decent average of 34.27. He had also led the side on numerous occasions, having reached playoffs in 2018.
Trent Boult brings his thunderbolt to the defending champions
Another bowler who raised eyebrows with his trade was Trent Boult, who switched his base from Delhi to the yard of the defending champions, Mumbai Indians (MI). While he made his IPL debut in 2014, he had been playing for Delhi since the past two seasons, where he claimed 23 wickets in 19 matches, at an average of 27.35.
Krishnappa Gowtham is KXIP's new all-round man
In order to make up for Ashwin's trade, KXIP have roped in all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham from Rajasthan. Having joined Rajasthan in 2018, he has played 22 matches for them, scoring 144 runs at a poor average of 12, besides claiming 12 wickets at another sour average of 39.83. Nonetheless, having won the Deodhar Trophy this month, he is likely to fare well in Punjab.
