The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction is set to be held this month as the excitement has begun.
The event will take place in Kolkata on December 19, Thursday.
For the first time ever, Kolkata will be a venue for the IPL auction.
Last month, the IPL trade window shut down on November 15.

Window
What happened in the IPL trade window?
A total of 11 players were traded during the IPL trade window.
The biggest moves included R Ashwin (Kings XI Punjab) and Ajinkya Rahane (Rajasthan Royals) to the Delhi Capitals.
DC were highly active and let go off Trent Boult to Mumbai Indians.
Mayank Markande joined the Royals from MI, whereas, Dhawal Kulkarni switched places.
RR also sold Krishnappa Gowtham to KXIP.
Released players
71 players were released by the IPL teams
Meanwhile, a total of 71 players were released by the IPL teams last month.
The franchises had to submit the list of retained and released players on November 15.
RCB released a total of 12 players, whereas, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad released five players each.
The biggest surprise was the release of Chris Lynn by Kolkata Knight Riders.
Auction purse
Auction purse available for all eight teams
KXIP will go into the auction with a hefty purse on offer (Rs. 42.70 crore).
KKR have Rs. 35.65 crore to spend.
RR follow suit with Rs. 28.90 crore.
Virat Kohli-led RCB have Rs. 27.90 crore to work with.
DC have Rs. 27.85 crore.
SRH (Rs. 17 crore), CSK (Rs. 14.60 crore) and MI (Rs. 13.05 crore) are sides with the lowest purse available.

Meanwhile, a total of 127 players have been retained, including 35 foreigners. One expects to see many released foreign players ruling the roost on December 19. It will be a crucial day for teams that need to assemble their squads.
