IPL 2019 likely to start from March 23 onwards
There was a lot of anticipation regarding the starting date of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. One had expected the upcoming edition of the cash-rich global T20 tournament to start earlier than usual with the General Elections to be held in India. However, media reports state that IPL 2019 will start from March 23 and it might clash with the elections. Here's more.
Know about the IPL 2019
According to a report in ESPN, the 12th edition of the IPL will be played in India despite the clash with the Lok Sabha Elections. The General Elections are expected to take place in April-May. The IPL will start on March 23, with there is no date for the final agreed upon yet.
BCCI communicates the decision via a press release
"The detailed schedule will be finalized in consultation with the appropriate authorities. The COA will then have detailed discussion with all the Stakeholders before releasing the schedule," BCCI said.
CSK favorites to bag IPL 2019 title
Chennai Super Kings go into IPL 2019 as the favorites to win the event. MS Dhoni's side pocketed the IPL 11 trophy after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the finale. The IPL 2019 Auction was held in December 2018 with 60 slots getting filled out of 70 available. Most teams had retained their core set of players prior to that in the IPL trade window.
