Rohit Sharma suffers muscle injury ahead of KXIP clash
Senior Indian cricket team batsman Rohit Sharma limped off the field at the Wankhede on Tuesday in the ongoing 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was seen holding his right thigh while running during a training session for Mumbai Indians. It remains to be seen whether Rohit takes the field against Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday. Here's more.
Rohit walks cautiously after receiving treatment
It appears to be something like that of a muscle pull which left Rohit lying on the ground and holding his head. The team physio Nitin Patel, who has also served the Indian team in the past, rushed to attend the player. He did climb his way back to the dressing room cautiously on his own after receiving some treatment at the ground.
MI await on Rohit's injury update
MI take on KXIP tonight in match number 24 of IPL 2019. So far no update on the injury has given by the club. If Rohit does miss the game, it will be a blow for the team. Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah had injured his left arm, but luckily he recovered in time and didn't miss a game. MI will hope Rohit recovers as well.
Team India physio Patrick Farhart is playing a huge role
Team India physio Patrick Farhart was consulted when JB was injured. And this time as well the franchise will be following the same protocol regarding Rohit's case. Injuries to any World Cup prospects shall be brought in the knowledge of the Team India support staff.
Workload and management should be the prime focus
With the ICC World Cup 2019 set to start from May 30 onwards in England and Wales, the workload for the players in line to be selected for the event is an important aspect. Players need to be more cautious in their approach and teams need to hand out proper rests in between. India cannot afford injuries to key players going into the tourney.
