Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra appointed as RCB coach
Former Indian left-arm pacer, Ashish Nehra, has been appointed as the coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore for the upcoming season. He will be a part of the coaching leadership team along with Gary Kirsten. Nehra was RCB's bowling coach in Indian Premier League 2018. The celebrated bowler will look to help the Royal Challengers shed the under-performers' tag.
RCB confirm Nehra's appointment
Nehra's addition as coach a good move
The addition of Nehra is a great move by the management. RCB have always fallen short of expectations and endured another sorry campaign in 2018. But the positives were seen in bowling department especially the way Umesh Yadav performed. A lot of credit goes to Ashish Nehra. Now, as a coach, he will need to be bold and back young pacers.
Nehra thanks RCB for new role as coach
Nehra stated that he feels passionately about the team and thanked them for the new role. "I had the privilege to join the coaching team of RCB last season and feel very passionately about the team. I want to thank the team management for considering me in a leadership position with the franchise and look forward for the successful seasons ahead," he said.
Experienced Nehra will be of immense help
Nehra was a valuable player for India during his heydays and helped them in major tournaments. He won several ICC tournaments with the side besides also being a part of the victorious Asia Cup squad. He has years of experience after having represented many teams during his stint as a player. The trio of Kirsten, Kohli and Nehra will look to change RCB's fortunes.
