Unique records held by Delhi Capitals in Indian Premier League
What's the story
Delhi Daredevils, which changed their name to Delhi Capitals, will look to create an impact in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.
Delhi have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the global T20 league.
Despite boasting of several big players over the years, Delhi have never won the title.
Here we look at their records in the IPL.
Batting
Delhi have struggled with the bat in IPL
Delhi have been dismissed nine times below the 100-run mark in the IPL.
Their lowest total is 66 against Mumbai Indians that was scripted in 2017.
Delhi have gone past the 200-run mark in an innings in IPL on just five occasions.
This makes it the worst performance by a franchise playing all the 11 seasons of the IPL.
Consistency
Sehwag finished as the top run-getter for Delhi three times
Former cricketer Virender Sehwag finished as the highest run-scorer for Delhi on three occasions.
Interestingly, he was their best batsman in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Sehwag amassed 356, 424 and 495 runs in these three seasons.
South African bowlers have picked the most wickets for Delhi on four occasions in the IPL.
Morne Morkel (twice), Chris Morris and Imran Tahir are the Proteas players.
Performances
Pant, Morkel have these special distinctions for Delhi
In IPL 2018, Rishabh Pant notched 684 runs in 14 matches.
It was the first time that a batsman of this team surpassed the 600-run mark in a season.
Their previous highest run-scorer was Gautam Gambhir (534) in 2008.
Former pacer Morne Morkel won the Purple Cap (25 wickets) in 2012.
He is the only player to achieve an award as such for Delhi.
Partnership
Warner, Ojha's 189* run partnership is still rated highly
David Warner and Naman Ojha added 189* runs for the second wicket in IPL 2012 for Delhi.
The partnership came against Deccan Chargers.
This is the highest ever stand for any wicket scripted by the side.
This 189-run stand is also the fifth highest partnership in the tourney.
It is also the fifth best second wicket stand in the IPL.
