Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings: Preview, Dream11 and stats
Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings are off to a flying start in the Indian Premier League 2019, as they won their respective openers. They lock horns in match number five at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday. It promises to be a thrilling affair as MS Dhoni-led Chennai would look to stop the onslaught by the young squad of Delhi.
Chennai humble Bangalore, Delhi decimate Mumbai
The opening match of the tournament saw defending champions CSK humble Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in a lowing scoring tie in Chennai, while Harbhajan Singh was adjudged the Man of the Match. As for DC, they decimated former champions Mumbai Indians at Wankhede by 37 runs in a high-scoring match. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was the star of the match.
Dhoni and Pant in focus
As for CSK, Dhoni's captaincy will remain the focus. His brilliance was seen in the opener against RCB, especially how he rotated his spinners. For DC, Pant would be the center of attraction, courtesy his knock of 78 on Sunday. Talking about the Playing XI, it is highly unlikely that these two would want to disturb the winning combination, unless there is an injury.
CSK enjoy an edge over DC
Considering their past encounters, there have been 18 clashes, where CSK have dominated with 12 wins, while DC won the remaining six. Further, out of 15 matches played in India, 10 have been won by CSK while DC won the remaining five. With respect to the matches played in Delhi, four out of six matches have been pocketed by CSK.
Kotla track expected to be sluggish
Kotla is known to be a rank turner, and it is expected that another sluggish encounter is on the cards. The track is likely to suit CSK more, owing to their lethal spin department led by Harbhajan, Ravindra Jadeja and Imran Tahir. Since the track gets slower by day, the team bowling first would have to rely on the pacers initially.
No changes expected in Playing XI
DC: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer (captain), Pant (wicket-keeper), Colin Ingram, Keemo Paul, Axar Patel, Rahul Tewatia, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, Ishant Sharma. CSK: Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Dhoni (captain and wicket-keeper), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir. Dream XI: Pant (captain), Dhawan, Ingram, Watson, Rayudu, Axar, Bravo, Rabada, Harbhajan (vice-captain), Tahir, Thakur.
