Top 5 underrated players in IPL 2018
Over the years, the Indian Premier League have had many underrated stars who, despite their match-winning performances, did not quite go on to hog the limelight. The promising talents often shine for their teams and contribute to their success immensely. In 2018, where everyone is only talking about the superstars of the game, here is our list of underrated players.
Chris Woakes- Royal Challengers Bangalore
Woakes tops the billing in the underrated list despite being a serious match-winner. He played for KKR last season and picked-up 17 wickets. Woakes has also done well for England. A bowling all-rounder, Woakes worked hard to improve his batting and the results are apparent. Woakes was purchased for Rs. 7.4 crore by RCB. But he hasn't been in the limelight as others.
Nathan Coulter-Nile- Royal Challengers Bangalore
One of the best T20 bowlers, Coulter-Nile hasn't quite got the recognition he deserves like the other top stars. Despite being consistent in IPL, only two teams went for him in the auction this year. RCB snapped him up for Rs. 2.20 crore; a sum way less compared to what he brings to the table. Last season, he picked up 15 wickets for KKR.
Trent Boult- Delhi Daredevils
Another player, who quite did not attract the buzz he deserves. A champion seam bowler, Boult is known for his wicket-taking abilities and is a crucial asset for any side. He was purchased by Delhi for Rs. 2.20 crore. It is a steal for the franchise as he unites with former KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir. He has 15 wickets in 14 IPL career matches.
Jos Buttler - Rajasthan Royals
In a team that boasts of superstars like Stokes and Smith, England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler was bound to be second-fiddle in the buzz status. A powerful hitter and a smart finisher, Buttler's acquisition was a wise decision by Royals. RR went heavy on Buttler and fetched him for Rs. 4.40 crore. In 24 matches, Buttler has scored 527 runs at an average of 25.09.
Andrew Tye- Kings XI Punjab
Australia's Tye has been a successful player of late in the limited overs. He has bagged wickets consistently and stepped up every time when needed. Tye, who has three hat-tricks in T20 cricket in 2017, got lucky on Day 2 of the auction. KXIP bought him for Rs. 7.20 crore after a big battle with CSK. He picked-up 12 wickets in IPL 2017.
Our take on IPL 11 underrated stars
Each of these players bring a plenty of firepower. Woakes and Coulter-Nile bowled well last season. Buttler won the IPL title with MI. With Tye and Boult in a good patch, we expect them to give a solid fight to the more celebrated names.
