Ishant Sharma in the top bracket at IPL auction
Indian pacer Ishant Sharma has been listed in the top bracket with a base price of Rs.2 crore in the upcoming Indian Premier League auction. Along with Sharma, England's shorter format captain Eoin Morgan, Chris Woakes, Ben Stokes, Mitchell Johnson, Pat Cummins and Angelo Mathews are other six players who have been listed in this bracket.
IPL 2017 auction to take place in Bengaluru
The players' auction for the 2017 Indian Premier League will take place on 20 February 2017 in Bengaluru. A total of Rs.143.33 crore is available for the eight franchises to be spent on this auction. With 140 players already being retained by the eight franchises, as many as 76 players can be picked up by the teams at the auction.
Final auction before players' contracts expire
The 2017 IPL auction will be the final one before the 10-year contracts of key players expire. Next year, almost all the players will be available for the auction.
Players in the next base price bracket
New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, who was hired by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs.3.8 crore in 2015 has been listed at a base price of Rs.1.5 crore. West Indies ODI captain Jason Holder, former South Africa fast bowler Kyle Abbot, England batsman Jonny Bairstow, Brad Haddin and Nathan Lyon are other players with a base price of Rs.1.4 crore.
Pawan Negi in auction at base price of Rs.30 lakh
Last year's costliest Indian player Pawan Negi, who was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs.8.5 crores was laid off by the team after his poor performance. He has entered this year's auction at a base price of Rs.30 lakh.
