Anil Kumble in contention to be KXIP head coach: Report
The speculations surrounding the next head coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab has gained momentum. A few days earlier a report had claimed Michael Hussey is being aimed by KXIP, however, now it has been understood that former Indian coach Anil Kumble is in talks with the side. Here's more on the same.
KXIP to make final decision soon
As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, former Team India coach Kumble is in talks with the Punjab outfit and a final decision over the team's next head coach will be taken when the board of the franchise meets soon. Moreover, Kumble might table a meeting with the franchise owners as well. Kumble has previously been a mentor for RCB and MI in IPL.
Kumble could add solidity as KXIP coach
Kumble was appointed as Team India's head coach in 2016 and was at the helm for a year. He could be a good appointment for KXIP, who haven't quite hit the ground running in 12 seasons in the cash-rich T20 league. Kumble will bring loads of experience as a leader and his stints with RCB and MI could help him laying his fundamentals.
Other options for KXIP apart from Kumble
KXIP are searching for a new head coach after having earlier moved on from Mike Hesson. They are said to be looking at Michael Hussey as the new head coach of the team. Hussey is currently the batting coach of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Besides the Aussie star, the franchise has also shortlisted Andy Flower and George Bailey.
Too many changes engulf KXIP
KXIP have made it a habit of too much of structural changes. They were extremely busy in the last two IPL auctions. They chose to overhaul the team and both times it backfired. Now with the change in management as well, the side needs to start afresh. Moreover, their skipper R Ashwin is also on the verge of joining Delhi Capitals.
