IPL 2019: KXIP beat RR, here are the records broken
Kings XI Punjab scripted a remarkable victory against Rajasthan Royals in match number 32 of the Indian Premier League 2019. Post this win, KXIP have 10 points in 9 matches. Batting first, KL Rahul led the way for KXIP as the hosts managed to score 182/6. RR started well in their pursuit of 183 but KXIP bowlers sealed the match. Here's the match report.
Rahul and Gayle script impressive feats
KL Rahul smashed his fourth fifty this season and now has 387 runs. He is only behind David Warner (400). The opening batsman registered his 14th career IPL fifty. Chris Gayle (30) went past the 350-run mark in IPL 12. The veteran southpaw hit three sixes to take his tally to 26 for the season. Gayle (4,346 runs) went past Robin Uthappa's tally (4,340).
Buttler crosses 300-run mark, equals Bairstow for most fours
Jos Buttler (23) smashed one four and two sixes. He equalled Jonny Bairstow in terms of most fours hit in IPL 2019 (38). He also became the seventh player to cross 300 runs this season (311).
Archer shines, Miller surpasses Jayawardene
Jofra Archer (3/15) continued his fine form with the ball for RR. He now has 10 scalps this season and equalled the likes of Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Shami. Archer also notched his career best figures in the IPL. David Miller (40) now has 1,808 runs in IPL. He went past Mahela Jayawardene in terms of career IPL runs (1,802).
Ashwin races to 121 IPL scalps, Tripathi notches this feat
R Ashwin now has 121 career IPL wickets. The spinner has 11 scalps this season. RR batsman Rahul Tripathi smashed his maiden fifty in IPL 12. He now has four career IPL fifties to his name. This was his second for RR.
How did the match pan out?
Punjab rode on a show by the top-order batsmen. Rahul and Miller shared a crucial 85-run stand to lay a strong foundation. After their dismissal, KXIP lost wickets, but R Ashwin (17*) provided a late cameo to help KXIP get past 180. In reply, Tripathi played a solid hand, before KXIP hit back to snatch away the victory and complete the double over RR.
