IPL 2019: RR beat MI, here are the records broken
Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede in the ongoing 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This was Rajasthan's second win in IPL 2019. Mumbai Indians posted 187/5 with Quinton de Kock (81) leading the way. RR got off to a terrific start with Jos Buttler powering the team with a whirlwind 89. Here are the records broken.
Quinton de Kock smashes eighth IPL fifty
Quinton de Kock smashed his second highest score in IPL (81). This was his second score of 50-plus in IPL 2019. He now has eight career IPL fifties. De Kock and Rohit added 96 runs for the first wicket. This was their highest stand for the first wicket in IPL 2019. It was also the third 50-plus stand between the two openers.
A look at some interesting individual feats notched
Hardik Pandya smashed 28* from 11 balls that included three sixes. He now has a total of 50 career IPL sixes. Jofra Archer (3/39) recorded his second best bowling figures in the IPL. Rohit Sharma hit six fours and a six in his knock of 47. He surpassed the 400-mark in terms of hitting fours in IPL (401). Rohit now has 187 IPL sixes.
Buttler lights up Wankhede with his fireworks
Ajinkya Rahane and Jos Buttler shared a 60-run stand for the first wicket. This was the third 50-plus stand in IPL 2019 between the two players. Buttler smashed his third fifty in IPL 2019. He hit seven fours and seven sixes. He now has the most fours this season (37). He overcame Jonny Bairstow (33). Buttler also registered his ninth career IPL fifty.
Buttler goes past Dada with this feat, Joseph punished
Buttler now has 1,363 career IPL runs. He surpassed the likes of David Hussey (1,322) and Sourav Ganguly (1,349). Alzarri Joseph conceded 28 runs in one over against Buttler. That's the joint-second most runs conceded in an over in IPL 2019.
How did the match pan out?
MI got off to a terrific start with De Kock and Rohit showing their class. But after Rohit's wicket, RR hit back. It was left to Pandya's blitz in the end to get MI past 180. In reply, RR got off to a strong start. After Rahane's dismissal, Buttler took RR to safety. But MI hit back hard, before RR managed to seal victory.
