IPL- Pune defeat Mumbai to reach the finals of IPL10
Rising Pune Supergiant booked their place in the finals of the 2017 Indian Premier League after defeating Mumbai Indians by 20 runs. Mumbai failed to chase 163 runs as their top order collapsed. Parthiv Patel remained the highest scorer for the team with 52 runs. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur picked up three wickets each for Pune.
IPL play-offs kick start with the Maharashtra derby
The first qualifier of the 2017 Indian Premier League will be played between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant. While Mumbai have dominated most of the teams in IPL10, Pune have beaten them in both of the matches played during the group stage. Pune will be playing their first play-off in IPL and will look to book a place in the finals.
Pune to miss Ben Stokes?
Rising Pune Supergiant will miss the services of Ben Stokes and Imran Tahir in this match. They have gone back to their respective countries on national duty. While Stokes has helped Pune with both ball and bat, Tahir showed a masterclass with his bowling skills.
Dhoni guides Pune to 162
Ajinkya Rahane and Manoj Tiwary each scored a half-century to help Pune put 162 runs on board after two quick wickets. Rahane(56) and Tiwary(58) put on a 80-run partnership for the third wicket before Rahane departed. Tiwary then partnered with MS Dhoni and put on 73-runs together. Dhoni hit four biggies to squeeze in crucial 41 runs in the last two overs.
