IPL- Punjab defeat Kolkata; keep their chances of play-offs alive
Kings XI Punjab defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 14 runs to secure a crucial win in the 49th match of 2017 Indian Premier League. Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine gave a good start to Kolkata. However, after Narine's dismissal, Punjab bowlers put up a fantastic effort to choke KKR's batsmen. For KKR, Chris Lynn was the highest run-scorer with 84 runs off 52 balls.

Kings XI Punjab will host Kolkata Knight Riders in Mohali today. Placed fifth, Punjab need to win all their remaining matches in order to keep their hopes of play-offs alive. Kolkata, on the other hand, are at second position on the table and are looking for just two points to confirm their spot in the next round.

Punjab skipper Glenn Maxwell scored 44 off just 25 balls to guide the team to 167 runs after a slow start. He put on a crucial 71-run partnership, for the fourth wicket, with Wriddhiman Saha, who contributed 38 runs. For KKR, Chris Woakes picked up 2 wickets and gave away only 20 runs in 4 overs.
Third fifty for Lynn in four matches
Chris Lynn scored his third fifty in four matches in the 2017 Indian Premier League. Having missed a major part of the tournament due to an injury, he has scored 93*, 32, 50 and 84 in four matches till now.
