Mumbai Indians pulled off a thrilling victory over Gujarat Lions in the first super over in the 2017 Indian Premier League. After the scores were tied, MI stepped on the field in the first super over of the season and finished 11 runs in the over. Jasprit Bumrah defended the score with perfect bowling to win the match for MI.

GL manage to score 153 runs after top order crumbles
Ishan Kishan's 48-run innings helped GL put 153 runs in the first innings after they opted to bat first. After a flop show from GL's top order, James Faulkner and Andrew Tye scored 43-runs together to take GL to a defendable target. Krunal Pandya picked up three wickets for the visitors, while Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets each.

Gujarat Lions showed amazing bowling skills to take the match into the super over after scores were tied at the end of Mumbai's innings. Getting a superb start from Parthiv Patel(70), Mumbai's middle order failed to impress before Krunal Pandya tried hard to take MI over the finish line. However, great fielding efforts from Ravindra Jadeja stopped MI at 153.
