Hamstring tear will see Kedar Jadhav miss out on action
When Kedar Jadhav was named in the Asia Cup 2018 squad, he must have been hoping to seize the opportunity and remain injury-free. On one hand, he delivered amazing performances, but Jadhav's injury came back to haunt him. Kedar suffered a hamstring tear in the Asia Cup final against Bangladesh and would now miss out on action for quite sometime.
Kedar suffers right hamstring strain
According to reports, a BCCI official stated that, "Kedar suffered a right hamstring strain which is the other leg from his previous problem. Scans will be done and update on the same will be given in a few days." Previously, he had suffered a grade two hamstring tear in the opening game of the 2018 IPL, which ruled him out for months.
2018 has been difficult for injury-prone Jadhav
Jadhav has had a difficult time, this year, nursing his hamstring. He was out of action for a long time after having played in the series against South Africa. The player missed the IPL 2018 season and the injury also forced him to sit out of the tour of England. His progress has, once again, been halted by the same issue.
Despite injury, Jadhav steers India to thrilling win
In the final against Bangladesh on Friday, he suffered the injury while trying to steal a quick single. Jadhav was groaning in pain and decided to head back to the dressing room. But, Jadhav came back in the end and steered India to a pulsating last-ball victory against the Tigers. He played a commanding role in the final with the ball as well.
Kedar the real hero in the final
Jadhav showed his prowess as a finisher in the Asia Cup. In three matches, he ended up with 70 runs coming lower down the order. His bowling performances were even more delightful as he picked up 6 wickets. He made the difference in the final breaking the opening partnership. His 2/41 helped India gain inroads. He also scored an unbeaten 23*.
Kedar set to miss series against the Windies
India play an ODI and T20I series against the West Indies next month and Kedar is definitely going to miss out. He will hopefully be able to make a comeback for the ODI series against Australia in early 2019. Kedar is one of the key assets for India going into the 2019 World Cup. And they cannot keep losing him to injuries.
