Musheer Khan meets accident, to miss Irani Cup, Ranji Trophy
Mumbaikar Musheer Khan, a promising cricketer, is out of action for the upcoming cricket season because of a road accident, reported the Times of India. The 19-year-old all-rounder broke his leg while traveling with his father and coach, Naushad Khan, from Kanpur to Lucknow. Because of this unfortunate incident, he will miss out on the Irani Cup tie against Rest of India and the first few rounds of the Ranji Trophy.
Khan's absence is a significant loss for Mumbai
Khan's injury has left a big gap in the Mumbai team, as he was all set to play the Irani Cup tie at Lucknow's Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium from October 1 to 5. His absence will also be felt during the early stages of the Ranji Trophy, which kicks off on October 11. A source mentioned that Khan did not travel with his team to Lucknow for this match.
Khan's impressive track record in cricket
Khan has an impressive cricketing resume, boasting 716 runs in nine matches at an average of 51.14, with three centuries and one fifty to his name. He also grabbed eight wickets with his left-arm spin at an average of 26.87. His spectacular debut in the Duleep Trophy earlier this month for India B against India A at Bengaluru, where he scored a brilliant 181, had everyone talking.
Khan's potential selection for India A's tour now uncertain
Khan, who happens to be the younger brother of Indian Test star Sarfaraz Khan, was in the running for a spot in India A's shadow tour of Australia this winter. The buzz around him grew after he absolutely smashed it in the Ranji Trophy knockouts last season, scoring an unbeaten 203 in the quarterfinals and a century (136) in the finals. But now, his selection is hanging in the balance because of his injury.
