A new record for Rohit
Rohit slams 19th hundred in ODIs
Rohit and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan added 210 runs for the opening wicket. This is the second highest partnership for India in the Asia Cup history. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane hold the record (213), created against Bangladesh in 2014 edition. Rohit slammed his 19th hundred in ODIs. Amongst Indians, he is now behind Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.
Sublime Dhawan notches 15th century in ODIs
Dhawan smashed his 15th ODI hundred. He, now, has the second highest number of centuries, among left-handed batsmen, in this format for India. He overtook Yuvraj Singh (14). Dhawan scored his second century in Asia Cup 2018. He became first player in the world to score at least two centuries each in the ICC Champions Trophy, ICC World Cup and the Asia Cup.
Rohit, Dhawan clinch records as an opening pair
This was the 14th meeting between the two sides in the Asia Cup and India now lead 8-5. Rohit and Dhawan have 3,846 runs as an opening pair in ODIs. The 210-run opening stand is the duo's best mark in ODIs. Their previous best was 178 versus Australia in Nagpur in 2013. It was also India's highest opening stand in the Asia Cup.
Rohit replicates MSD's ODI records
Rohit Sharma joined MS Dhoni to be only the second Indian player to his 300 sixes in international cricket across all formats. He also joined Dhoni to score consecutive 50+ score in Asia Cup as a skipper for India in the Asia Cup. This was Rohit and Dhawan's 13th 100+ partnership in ODIs. The highest is 21 by Dada and Sachin Tendulkar.
