Joshna Chinappa crashes out of British Open Squash Championship
India's Joshna Chinappa suffered a second round defeat in the women's singles event to crash out of the 2017 Allam British Open Squash Championships in Hull. She lost 8-11 7-11 7-11 to world number three Raneem El Welily of Egypt in 27 minutes. Chinappa had beaten Raneem earlier in 2015, but could not get better of the Egyptian this time.
British Open Squash Championship
The British Open Squash Championship is a squash tournament which is held in England every year. It was first played in 1929 and is regarded as the most prestigious tournament of squash. Pakistan's Jahangir Khan has won the men's title ten times, most by any male player. Heather McKay of Australia has 16 women's titles to her name.
The 2017 British Open
The 2017 edition of the tournament will be played from 21-26 March in Hull. India will see its representation through Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal Karthik in women's singles event. Sourav Ghoshal, however, failed in the qualifier round.
Dipika Pallikal exits, Joshna reaches round two of British Open
India's Dipika Pallikal was shown the exit door in the first round of the British Open Squash Championship after losing to Laura Massaro of England. Massaro won 11-4, 11-5, 11-13,11-1. Joshna Chinappa defeated former world number one Australia's Rachael Grinham 11-6, 8-11, 11-6, 12-10 to enter the second round of the tournament and will face current world number three Raneem El Welily.
