Australian women beat India to seal 3-match ODI series
Australia continued to pile more misery on the Indian women's cricket team after they defeated India in the 2nd ODI by 60 runs. Australian women outplayed Mithali Raj and her girls in all 3 departments. Australia posted 287/9 but Mithali Raj's blue brigade faltered in the chase and were bowled out for just 227 in 49.2 overs. Here is the detailed match report.
How did the match unfold?
India won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. Nicole Bolton, who scored an unbeaten hundred in the 1st ODI, was the star once again, as she scored 84 to take Australia to 287/9. Perry (70) and Mooney (56) also chipped in with their crucial knocks. For India, Shikha Pandey picked up 3 wickets.
India's batting order failed to fire
India were set for their highest-ever chase against Australia. Smriti Mandhana got India off to a great start and scored a brilliant 67 off 53 balls. However, Punam Raut struggled and could only manage just 27 off 61 balls. Deepti Sharma also couldn't find her rhythm and was dismissed after scoring 26 off 45 balls. Smriti's wicket in the 21st over triggered a collapse.
Pooja Vastrakar spares India's blushes yet again
Captain Mithali Raj seemed in a fine form when she smashed 3 fours but she was soon caught behind. The rest of the batting line-up couldn't hold on for long and India kept losing wickets at regular intervals. 18-year-old Pooja Vastrakar showed some resilience yet again and scored a 33 ball 30 before India were bowled out for 227.
