Indian Wells: Roger Federer enters final after Nadal withdraws
Former world number one, Roger Federer had an easy, but not an ideal, sail into the final of the ongoing ATP Indian Wells Masters after his arch rival Rafael Nadal had to give an unfortunate walkover. Nadal had to pull out due to a knee inflammation, which might be due to resurfacing of his long-time knee injury, patellar tendonitis. Here's more.
Federer has some inspirational words for his best friend Rafa
Federer has had a smooth journey so far
This is Federer's first tournament since winning his 100th ATP title in Dubai last week, and he has managed a smooth ride in the tournament so far. Notably, he has won all the matches in straight sets. Currently number four in the ATP Rankings, Federer would fancy his chances to win the tournament and enter the upcoming French Open as the favorite.
Nadal's injury a big blow ahead of French Open
While Nadal too had been lethal in the tournament so far, winning all the matches without dropping a set, the resurfacing of his injury comes as a big blow. Although still a couple of months away, it is being wondered if Nadal would get fit in time to play the French Open, where he has won 11 titles.

Federer to take on Dominic Thiem in the final
Federer would switch his focus to Sunday's final when he takes on Dominic Thiem for the title. Both the men have faced each other four times before, as both have shared the spoils so far, winning two each. Therefore, Thiem has nothing to be disheartened about. Federer enters as the favorite, as he beat him the last time in ATP Finals 2018.
Thiem aims to dethrone Federer as number four
As Thiem prepares to face Federer in the final, he would have another prize in sight apart from the title, and that's the number four spot in the ATP Rankings. Winning the Indian Wells on Sunday would allow Thiem to reach his career-high ranking of four and dethrone Federer from the spot. However, a loss would mean Federer retaining the spot.
