Wrist injury might force Kohli to miss Tests against WI
As per media reports, Virat Kohli has told the BCCI that he has been suffering from a wrist injury. This, in turn, has forced the selectors to delay the squad announcement for the two Tests against West Indies. They are awaiting Kohli's reports. Kohli was recently given a rest and didn't play in the Asia Cup. Here is more about the same.

According to a report in PTI, a senior BCCI official stated that Virat has a slight wrist niggle. The selectors are awaiting a report from the NCA support staff but it is not clear when he sustained the same. Although speculations are on that he might have suffered the injury in England. If Kohli is declared fit, then he will lead the side.
Selectors likely to announce the squad tomorrow
However, if Virat is deemed unfit then the selectors might name the squad only for the first Test. Ajinkya Rahane will then captain the side. Notably, the extent of Virat Kohli's injury is unknown, till now. The squad is expected to be announced tomorrow with the first Test starting on October 4. West Indies are currently playing a match against Board President's XI.
Bumrah, Bhuvi to be rested for Windies series
Meanwhile, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are set to rested for the home series. Keeping the workload in mind and their game time in the Asia Cup, the selectors want the duo to be fresh for Australia series. Spinner R Ashwin has been cleared to play the Tests after recovering from a hip injury.

Ishant Sharma and Shami will be expected to lead the pace attack in the two Tests. Also Umesh Yadav will provide the necessary back-up. Meanwhile, Mayank has served a timely reminder to the selectors by scoring a 90 against West Indies in the tour game. Shikhar Dhawan is likely to be dropped and Prithvi Shaw might make his debut.
