The southpaw has had a fruitful 2017, scoring 960 runs in 22 ODIs with three hundreds to his name as well as 550 runs including 2 hundreds in 5 Test matches.
Tamil Nadu's spin wizard
With Chennai Super Kings using all their 3 retention cards, India's ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was left out. Ashwin, however, has been out of India's limited overs squad in the last 12 months.
The heavily criticised Indian vice-captian
Another big name ignored by his former franchise Rajasthan Royals, Ajinkya Rahane will definitely be the bargain deal, considering his poor form. His struggle on homes soil is alarming, but he has proved his mettle in the past
Kolkata's knight in shining armour
Former India opener and captain fantastic of Kolkata Knight Riders, Gautam Gambhir will be up for grabs and he is likely to have several suitors. The 36-year-old is one of the most successful captains in the IPL and his explosive batting at the top makes him an asset to any team. If his price does not soar, KKR might use the RTM card.
The prince of Punjab
An all-time favourite at the auctions, 36-year-old, Yuvraj Singh will definitely go for big bucks. When all is well, he can send the ball sailing out of the park. A proven match-winner, Yuvraj is known to turn the tide in a matter of few deliveries. However, with his consistency and fitness being the problem, he has been dropped from the Indian team.
The forgotten Indian hero
After plying his trade for the Mumbai Indians for the last 10 years, Bhajji has been released by the defending champions. The 37-year-old has played limited cricket in the past few months and will have to make the most of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to prove that he still has cricket left in him.
