    What's the story

According to an Indian Express report, Indian security personnel involved in critical operations like the 2008 Mumbai attacks and in high-profile events like the IPL, FIFA U-17 World Cup, ISL etc. are being sought after to be part of the security assistance programme for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Around 20 IPS officers will be chosen.

    Here's more.

    Details

Special units like NSG, IB are involved too

States and Union Territories have been asked to nominate officers.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will then select 20 officers from nominees for the first of a series of security seminars to be held in Qatar's capital, Doha.

Special units like the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have also been asked to nominate officers for the contingent.

    Officers

The MHA is looking for experience in risk management

Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, and Maharashtra have also been specifically asked to nominate officers, preferably IPS officers, for threat and risk management and crowd management.

It's possibly because of the huge turnouts witnessed in these states during events like the IPL and the ISL that the MHA is looking for experienced officers in these states.

    NSG and IB

The MHA is looking for elite officers too

The NSG has been asked to nominate SP and DIG rank officers who were part of the operations conducted during the 26/11 attack.

After the attack, the NSG secured hostages, eliminated nine terrorists in a three-day long operation.

The IB was asked to nominate officers who worked in "international engagement and cooperation" with international agencies on issues like terrorism.
