Chhetri's last-minute goal helps India defeat Myanmar
Indian captain Sunil Chhetri struck in last minute to give India a 1-0 victory against Myanmar in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers at Yangon. Myanmar started on a high note and began creating scoring chances in the first five minutes of the game, unlike India which started on a cautious note. India are on top of Group A in the qualifiers with three points.
Indian football team's schedule in 2017
The Indian football team will be busy playing AFC Asian Cup qualifiers and international friendlies in 2017. Opening their friendly campaign against Cambodia on 22 March, India will play Lebanon in June and Palestine in October. In AFC qualifiers, India will play two matches each with Myanmar, Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstan) and Macau. The first match was played against Myanmar on 28 March.
India defeat Cambodia 3-2 to break 12-year old jinx
Indian men's football team registered their first away win in International friendly since June 2005 after defeating Cambodia 3-2 at Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium. Tied 1-1 at the half-time, India's Jeje Lapekhlua and Sandesh Jhingan scored a goal each in the 49th and 52nd minute. Captain Sunil Chettri scored the first goal for India in the 35th minute.

Indian coach Stephen Constantine expressed his happiness at the win and said, "Winning away from home has been our strength and the fact that we won our first away international friendly after June 2005 makes it all the sweeter."
India defeat Myanmar on Myanmar soil after 64 years
Indian football team broke a 64-year jinx after defeating Myanmar on their soil. Indians had defeated Myanmar in their own den in October 1953 when they won 4-2 in a quadrangular tournament.
India's next in AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers
India will play Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstan) in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers on 13 June, while the second match against them on 27 March next year at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek. On 5 September and 10 October this year, India will play Macau, which will be followed by a second match against Myanmar on 14 November.
