Indian cricketers visit pediatric cancer ward in Coimbatore: Here's why
Indian cricketers Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer and Dhawal Kulkarni paid a heartfelt visit to the free pediatric oncology ward at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in Coimbatore. The players were in town for the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament when they decided to spend time with young cancer patients. The children warmly welcomed them with red roses upon their arrival. Cricketers interact with young cancer patients
The cricketers engaged in a lively interaction with the children, signing mini cricket bats and gifting them fruits and cookies. They inquired about the children's hobbies and favorite cricket players. In return, the young patients presented Yadav and Iyer with portraits of themselves as tokens of appreciation. The players also expressed their wishes for a speedy recovery to the children undergoing treatment at the ward.
Suryakumar discusses treatment protocols with hospital director
Suryakumar had a detailed discussion with Dr. P. Guhan, the Director of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research (SRIOR), about the treatment protocols and duration for children in the ward. Dr. Guhan provided an insight into the ongoing treatments and their results, informing Yadav that over 1,000 children have received free cancer treatment at this ward since its inauguration by former President APJ Abdul Kalam in 2005.
Suryakumar lauds hospital's efforts in pediatric cancer treatment
SKY commended the dedication of the oncology department and the significant support provided by Sri Ramakrishna Hospital toward this noble cause. The visit was also attended by R. Sundar, Joint Managing Trustee; C.V. Ramkumar, CEO, SNR Sons Charitable Trust; and Dr. Karthikesh, a surgical oncologist. Some players were deeply moved upon learning about the young patients' daily routines and their resilience in facing their health challenges.
