Kohli's team set to play 23 matches between Sep-Dec
Team India will play a record 23 international matches at home from September to December this year. The jam-packed home season consists of 3 Tests, 11 ODIs, and 9 T20Is. The decision regarding the venues will be taken later today by BCCI's Tours and Fixtures Committee. This season we might see two new venues for test matches, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) and Barsapara (Assam).
The new venues under consideration
The Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, and Dr Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium in Barsapara, have both received the Test status and will be vying to host their first Test match. Nagpur Stadium which was under suspension may also be in contention to host a Test.
Who will we face in the upcoming home season?
India will host Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka during the 23-match schedule. Kohli & Co. will first face Australia for 5 ODIs, 3 T20Is during end of September to mid-October. This will be followed by 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is against New Zealand, scheduled from late October- early November. Finally, they face Sri Lanka for 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 3 T20Is, in December.
