India's position after the warm up matches
India have won both of the warm up matches in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, one against New Zealand and another one against Bangladesh. With India facing Pakistan in the most awaited clash of the tournament on June 4, let us have a look at the positives and the negatives of the Indian team from the past two warm up matches.
Indian batsmen shine in the warm up matches
In both the warm up matches, Indian batsmen put on a fantastic batting display. In the first match, Kohli went on to score unbeaten 52 runs, while MS Dhoni was his usual self, hitting boundaries consistently. Against Bangladesh, Dinesh Karthik scored fabulous 94 runs. Hardik Pandya also scored 80* in this match. Shikhar Dhawan, who loves English conditions, was consistent in both the matches.
Reasons to worry?
Ajinkya Rahane's poor score in both the matches is a reason to worry for the Indian team. Even Rohit Sharma failed to perform against Bangladesh. While Yuvraj Singh was seen practising in the nets, his health could be an issue for the team.
Indian bowlers hit bulls eye
Indian bowlers managed to pick up all the 20 wickets in the two games. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up six wickets, comeback man Mohammed Shami picked up four wickets. Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja also found success in both the matches, giving the fans the confidence that there is almost no weak link in the bowling department of the Indian team.
All bases covered for Kohli?
Ahead of the huge clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is pleased after an all-round performance from Indian team. He said, "We got what we wanted in both the games. Last game as well, the bowlers did a fantastic job. Fielding has been good, catching has been good. All bases are covered. We have ticked all the boxes going into the tournament."
