    What's the story

Indian boxers at the 2018 Commonwealth Games have been cleared of doping violations.

However, they have been placed under the scanner for breaching the strict the 'no needle policy'.

Reports were doing the rounds that syringes were found outside India's accommodation in the games village at Gold Coast, which had left the CWG authorities unhappy.

    Information

    Temporary respite for Indian boxers

However, trouble is not is over as there might be further sanctions for breaching the no needle policy. The Commonwealth Games Federation has refrained from naming the country involved in the violations, but most suspect the country to be India.

    Strict policy

Injections can be take only under medical supervision

As per reports, the concerned country was summoned for a hearing and clarified that no doping violation had taken place.

The Commonwealth Games Federation prohibits injections without proper medical support.

It is only lenient towards athletes who require prescribed medication or nutritional supplements.

Moreover, the medication needs to be administered under the supervision of a medical practitioner.

    Breaching policy

Prior permission need to use medication

Athletes need to take prior permission if they need injections for medical reasons and failing to do so can result in sanctions.

A hearing will now be held in front of the Federation court to determine the possible punishment.

Speculation was that Indian boxers were the ones who were under the scanner.

    Await sanctions

India will face sanctions for breaching policy

The Indian athletes has been insistent that there has been no wrongdoing on their part.

However, a top official has confirmed that the syringes were recovered near the Indian accommodation but denied dope violations.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games are scheduled to start on April 5 after an opening ceremony which will take place on April 4.
