#IndiaInEngland: Who have been top performing Indian batsmen?
As India gear up for 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs against England in July 2018, there is plenty to look forward to. Traditionally, England have enjoyed success over India in bilateral series at home. However, India achieved glory in England at the 2002 Natwest Trophy and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Here we look at players who have done well in England.
Sachin Tendulkar was a champion atop
Former legendary cricketer Sachin enjoyed batting in England and his runs against the hosts, in ODIs, tell us the story. In England, he scored 639 runs against the Three Lions in 17 ODIs. His top score is 105*, which came in the year 2002. His defining moment came in 2007, when he smashed 4 fifties in 7 innings at an average of 53.42.
Ganguly's efforts were outstanding
In 16 matches, Ganguly scored 565 runs on English soil, against the hosts, at an average of 35.31. He slammed five fifties with a top score of 90. The former India skipper is best remembered for guiding India to the 2002 Natwest Trophy. The southpaw hit 60 off 43 balls in the final as India chased down the 326-run target at Lord's.
Dhoni's calmness as a finisher
Dhoni's contribution cannot be ignored, in ODIs, against England. The former Indian skipper has toured the nation thrice in 2007, 2011 and 2014. In each of the three series, he scored at least a fifty. MSD has scored 492 runs in 17 matches with a top score of 78*. In 2011, he hit three consecutive fifties and was adjudged the 'Man-of-the-Series'.
Charismatic Yuvraj stood out in England
Yuvraj Singh played a career defining knock, back in 2002, when he won the Natwest Trophy for India. The charismatic left-handed batsman went on to play a total of 14 ODIs in England against the Three Lions. He has scored 498 runs at an average of 41.50. Yuvi smashed 4 fifties and his best knock was the winning 69 in the Natwest finale.
