India Women set for 10-day camp at National Cricket Academy
The Indian women's cricket team is set to participate in a 10-day skills camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. This intensive training session, starting on Tuesday, September 10, is part of their preparation for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup in UAE next month. The camp will be supervised by head coach Amol Muzumdar and will include a full-strength squad along with reserves.
Bhatia and Patil join camp after fitness clearance
The squad for the skills camp includes wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia and all-rounder Shreyanka Patil. Both cricketers were conditionally named in the 15-member T20 World Cup squad, pending fitness clearance from the NCA. According to Cricbuzz, Bhatia (knee injury) and Patil (finger fracture) have successfully passed their respective fitness tests this week and obtained the necessary NOCs to participate in the camp.
Intra-squad games planned for World Cup preparation
As part of their T20 World Cup preparation, the Indian women's cricket team will play a couple of intra-squad games. These matches are expected to be held under lights, mirroring the conditions they will face in three of their four Group A games at the T20 World Cup. The only exception is their match against Pakistan on October 7 in Dubai, which will not be an evening game.
Team to depart for UAE on September 24
Following the conclusion of the skills camp, players will take a short four-day break before reconvening in Mumbai. Their departure for the UAE is scheduled on September 24. In UAE, India Women will play their two official warm-up matches against West Indies on September 29 and South Africa on October 1 at the ICC Academy in Dubai.
India's T20 World Cup campaign begins on October 4
The Indian women's cricket team will begin their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against New Zealand on October 4. Three of India's four group games will be played in Dubai, with the match against defending champions Australia set for Sharjah on October 13. This tournament provides an opportunity for the team to showcase their skills and strategies honed during the intensive training camp at NCA.
