Asian Games 2018: Indian women's hockey team finish second
Indian women's hockey team had to settle for a silver medal at the ongoing Asian Games 2018, being held in Indonesia. Rani Rampal's side lost the final against Japan 1-2 on Friday. The wait for the Indian eves continue, since their last gold came 36 years ago. 20 years ago, the Indian women's hockey team had reached the final but lost to South Korea.
Japan outclass India 2-1
Minami Shimizu scored the opening goal with India's Neha Goyal cancelling the lead in 25th minute. The match was levelled at 1-1 for quite sometime before Motomi scored in the third quarter to take the lead. Motomi netted in the goal after Japan won a penalty corner. From there on, the Japanese eves kept the possession and made sure a win was sealed.
After two bronze medals, Indian eves fare better
In the 2014 Asian Games, the Indian women's hockey team had to settle for bronze just like they did in 2006. This time a silver medal is definitely a better show, although India missed out on the top prize.
