Rohit, Pant, Kohli could script unique records in 1st T20I
India and West Indies gear up for a three-match T20I series, starting Friday in Hyderabad. India had earlier beaten Windies 3-0 in the T20I series in August. With the ICC World T20 to be held next year, both teams will want to get the maximum from this series. In tomorrow's match, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could script some unique records. Here is more.
Kohli can be second batsman to score 2,500 T20I-runs
Virat Kohli (2,450 runs) needs 50 more to reach the mark of 2,500 runs in T20Is. He will become only the second player after Rohit Sharma (2,539) to register this feat. Both Kohli and Rohit have 22 fifty-plus scores in T20Is. One could see both of them aiming to improve their tally and dominate the game.
Chahal can script this special record in T20Is
Rohit and Kohli have 36 catches each in T20Is. Both could get closer to Suresh Raina (42). Yuzvendra Chahal (50) needs three wickets to surpass R Ashwin (52) as India's leading wicket-taker in the format. Deepak Chahar (14 wickets) can get past the likes of Zaheer Khan, Amit Mishra and RP Singh in terms of career T20I scalps.
India aiming to grab seventh successive T20I win against Windies
India and West Indies have played 14 T20I matches so far. The hosts will be aiming to win their ninth T20I match against WI. India will also be aiming to seal a seventh successive victory in the format against WI.
Rahul and Pollard could get to 1,000 career T20I runs
KL Rahul (974) needs 26 more to register 1,000 career T20I runs. He could become the seventh Indian to achieve this mark. He needs just nine runs to get past former South African hero Graeme Smith (982). Windies skipper Kieron Pollard (953) needs 47 runs to reach 1,000 career T20I runs. He could become only the fourth Windies player to achieve this mark.
Rohit eyeing a special feat against WI
Rohit needs 75 runs to reach the mark of 500 against West Indies in T20Is. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav need three wickets each to surpass Jasprit Bumrah's tally (8) of most wickets in India-Windies T20I matches.
Rohit one six away from scripting this massive record
Rohit is just one maximum away from reaching the milestone of 400 international sixes across formats. The senior cricketer has hit 399 sixes in his international career so far (232 in ODIs, 52 in Tests and 115 in T20Is). He could become the first Indian to achieve this mark. Shahid Afridi (476) and Chris Gayle (534) have hit 400-plus sixes in international cricket.
Rishabh Pant can get past MS Dhoni
India's wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has three dismissals from seven T20Is involving India and West Indies. He can surpass MS Dhoni, who leads the list with five from seven T20Is.
