India vs West Indies 2nd Test: Key players in focus
India and West Indies gear up for the second Test match, starting October 12. The Men in Blue will be hoping to continue in the same vein after beating West Indies by an innings and 272 runs in Rajkot. Several players would be wanting to make the opportunity count in the second Test. Here we look at the same.
Skipper Kohli is the pivotal asset for India
Virat Kohli has been the standout performer for India in Test cricket and he displayed his prowess, once again, in Rajkot with a ton. In 9 Tests in 2018, he has amassed 1,018 runs with 4 centuries and 4 fifties. As expected, the in-form player came in and steered the first Test match away. The team management would be expecting a similar show tomorrow.
Prithvi Shaw will hope to light up Hyderabad
18-year-old Prithvi Shaw was brilliant in his debut Test in Rajkot, as he slammed a fantastic 134. He grabbed the headlines and introduced himself in the international scene with a lot of panache. Shaw will now look to bat as per his strengths and make the most out of the opportunity in Hyderabad. His brisk runs could help India lay down a strong foundation.
Brathwaite needs to get back to basics
Kraigg Brathwaite needs to make it count for West Indies after doing miserably in the first Test. He got out cheaply twice in Rajkot. He has to show his credibility as a senior member in the side. He has to remain patient and work for runs this tine. He has the appetite, but needs to bat his skin out to achieve the same.
Bishoo needs to develop his bowling
Bishoo was expected to give a better account of himself after doing well at home. He was a disappointment in Rajkot. His performance of 4/217 doesn't bode well for a premier spinner. He has to learn and contain the batsmen. West Indies will hope that Devendra can tighten up the screws and bowl a lot of dots. This was missing in Rajkot.
