India-West Indies 1st ODI: Records that can be scripted
After a 2-1 victory in the T20I series, Team India will be aiming to complete the double over West Indies in the upcoming ODIs, starting December 15. This is India's second ODI series post the ICC World Cup 2019. Ahead of the first ODI in Chennai, we look at the records that can be scripted.
ODI runs: Kohli and Rohit can go past these legends
Indian captain Virat Kohli has 11,520 career ODI runs. He needs just 60 more to surpass the legendary Jacques Kallis (11,579) in terms of ODI runs. Rohit Sharma (8,686) needs 16 runs away from getting past former Indian stalwart Yuvraj Singh (8,701) in terms of career ODI runs. He also needs 93 runs to surpass former West Indies hero Shivnarine Chanderpaul (8,778).
Indian batsmen eyeing these feats
A century for Rohit will see him equal former Sri Lankan ace Sanath Jayasuriya in terms of career ODI tons (28). KL Rahul (704) can surpass Parthiv Patel (736) and Zaheer Khan (753) in terms of career ODI runs. A century for Kohli will take him to the mark of 45. He will close down on Sachin Tendulkar (49).
Shami and Chahal can script these feats with the ball
Mohammed Shami (131 wickets) can get past the injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar (132) in terms of career ODI wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal (85 scalps) can surpass Munaf Patel (86) in terms of career ODI wickets. Shami (37) needs two wickets to go past Trent Boult (38) as the highest wicket-taker in 2019. Meanwhile, Chahal (29) needs three more to get past Pat Cummins (31).
Kohli and Rohit will be vying for the runs
Kohli and Rohit will be vying for the top run-scorer in ODIs this year. Kohli has 1,288 runs and tops the chart. Rohit follows suit with 1,232. Both the batsmen have accounted for the most tons in 2019 (5 and 6 respectively).
