India defeat SL in second test at Colombo
India took a 2-0 lead, in the three match test series, after defeating Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs in the second test at Colombo. Ravindra Jadeja picked up five wickets in the second innings as SL could score 386 runs after India enforced a follow on. Let us have a look at various records made during the second test.
Return of KL Rahul
Indian opening batsman KL Rahul made a comeback to Indian team after a long gap. He scored valuable 57 runs, hitting his sixth consecutive half-century in tests thereby equaling the record held by Rahul Dravid and Gunduppa Viswanath.
50th test and 4000 test runs
India's Cheteshwar Pujara reached a milestone of 50 tests in Colombo and also went on to complete 4000 runs in test cricket. He became the second fastest Indian to reach the mark, taking just 84 innings. He also hit his 13th test century. Rahane scored 132, while Pujara hit 133 runs. These two had a partnership of 217 runs.
Jadeja picks up 150th test wicket
Ravindra Jadeja picked up his 150th test wicket during the second test against Sri Lanka. He went past Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev to become the second fastest Indian bowler to do so in just 32 tests. Not only that, he also became the fastest left-arm bowler to reach the mark of 150 wickets in test cricket.
Ashwin joins an elite club
Ravichandran Ashwin completed 2000-plus runs and 250-plus wickets in tests and became the fastest one to reach the mark, in his 51st test. Richard Hadlee had reached there in 54 tests.
