India vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI: Records broken
Shikhar Dhawan struck a brilliant 100* off just 84 balls to beat Lankans by 8-wickets in Visakhapatnam. This win helped India to extend their winning-streak in bilateral ODI series to eight. Tharanga gave Sri Lanka a flying start but a batting collapse forced them to set a target of 216 which India chased in 32.1 overs. Here are the records broken in 3rd ODI.
Shikhar Dhawan stars in India's triumph
Shikar Dhawan scored his 12th ODI hundred. He is now the 5th quickest to achieve the feat. Dhawan also became the second fastest Indian to 4,000 ODI runs with his unbeaten ton. Dhawan needed 95 innings to reach the milestone while Indian skipper Virat Kohli reached the landmark in just 93 innings.
Hardik Pandya repeats Kapil Dev's feat
Hardik Pandya picked his 30th ODI wicket of 2017 equalling Indian all-rounder, Kapil Dev's record, of scoring 500-plus runs and 30-plus wickets in one day international in a calendar year which was set in the year 1986. Rohit Sharma registered the most number of sixes in 2017 with 46 to his name. In his 7 run innings today, Rohit hit his 46th six.
Sensation Kuldeep baffles Sri Lankans
Kuldeep Yadav has been sensational since his debut. The youngster has picked 2 or more wickets in 8 of the 12 matches he has played in. He has remained wicketless just twice. Sri Lanka lost their last 9 wickets for 79 runs in just 135 balls. The previous ODI played at Vizag saw New Zealand bowled out for 79 in 23.1 overs.
India's happy hunting ground
With 8 consecutive bilateral ODI series wins, India are second on the list tied with Australia. West Indies top this chart having won 15 consecutive ODI bilateral series between 1980-1988. Vizag has been India's happy hunting ground, having won 6 out of the 7 matches. The only loss came against West Indies in 2013.
Sri Lanka collapse after Tharanga's 95
Upul Tharanga is the 3rd batsman to cross the 1000 run mark in ODIs this year. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the other cricketers to do so. Tharanga averages over 48 and boasts a strike rate of 91 this year, his best so far. Sri Lanka have now lost 14 of their last 15 ODI matches.
