India vs SL 2nd ODI: Predicted Playing XI
Having lost the first ODI in an embarrassing fashion, Indian team-sans-Virat Kohli, will look to bounce back in the 2nd ODI in Mohali to remain in contention for the 3-match ODI series. While Sri Lanka with the momentum could stick to same starting XI, India will need to address their middle order batting issues. Let us look at probable playing XI for both sides.
Rahane could be included
While it was surprising to not see Ajinkya Rahane in the 1st ODI, his presence was clearly missed during the batting collapse. Considering his experience and skill, Rahane could well be a part of the 2nd ODI. India's probable XI - Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (C), Ajinkya Rahane, Dinesh Karthik, Shreyas Iyer, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzevendra Chahal.
Lankans to have the same starting XI
As long as there isn't an injury issue, the Sri Lankans will most likely play the same combination of players that won the 1st ODI for them. Sri Lanka predicted playing XI - Danushka Gunathilaka, Upul Tharanga, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Niroshan Dickwella, Asela Gunaratne, Thisara Perera (C), Sachith Pathirana, Suranga Lakmal, Akila Dananjaya, Nuwan Pradeep.
Toss holds the key to victory
Winning the toss, as was the case in 1st ODI, will hold key to succeeding in the 2nd ODI. With cold weather conditions, moisture on field, and green wicket, the team who wins the toss will most likely opt to field first. Considering the good bowling attack both the teams have, it's the team that bats better will come on top.
The last time Sri Lanka defeated India in India
Before the 1st ODI win in Dharamasala, the last time a visiting Sri Lankan team defeated India in India was in the Nagpur ODI in December 2009.
