India vs South Africa 2nd ODI: Probable XI
After a commanding display in the first ODI at Durban, India will look to carry the momentum when they take on the Proteas in the 2nd-ODI at SuperSport Park, Centurion. South Africa, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from the defeat but are struggling with injuries. Here is our prediction for the playing XI to be fielded by both sides.
Faf du Plessis ruled out of ODI & T20 series
In a massive blow to the home side, skipper Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series and the upcoming T20 internationals, after suffering a finger injury. Faf du Plessis was South Africa's stand-out performer in the 1st ODI scoring his 9th ODI hundred. Without Faf and ABD, South Africa's batting line-up should be easy to breach for Indian bowlers.
Farhaan Behardien to replace Faf du Plessis
South Africa have called Farhaan Behardien as the skipper's replacement. Moreover, Heinrich Klaasen has been given a maiden call-up as a back-up wicket-keeper for Proteas. Aiden Markram will lead the home side.
India unlikely to tinker with XI after drawing first blood
After having won the first ODI, injury free India are unlikely to tinker with their playing XI. Rohit Sharma will open the inning alongside Shikhar Dhawan. Kohli, Rahane, Hardik Pandya, Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav comprise of the middle order. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah will take care of the pace department while spinners Kuldeep Yadav & Yuzvendra Chahal finish the eleven.
Injury woes leave South Africa depleted
South Africa are without the services of batting mainstays, AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis due to injuries and will have a tough time selecting a playing XI. Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla, Aiden Markram, JP Duminy, David Miller, Farhaan Behardien, Chris Morris, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Morne Morkel and Imran Tahir are likely to find their names on the team sheet.
