    Playing the No.1 ranked T20I team, India sailed through to their first ever T20I victory against New Zealand, to take 1-0 lead in the ongoing series.

    Overpowered by India's bowling performance, the Kiwis failed to chase a target of 203, managing to score just 149/8.

    In the first of three-match-T20I series at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla, New Zealand won the toss and decided to field first.

    Having lost just three wickets, India had a comfortable first innings and set up a target of 203 runs for New Zealand.

    Opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan made big and equal contribution of 80 runs each to the score.

    Highest opening partnership in T20Is for India

    With 158 runs partnership, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma set a new record for the highest opening stand for India.

    It is also the third highest partnership overall for India in T20s.

    Further, Dhawan's 80 was his highest T20I score.

    Incidentally, Dhawan-Rohit's 98-ball partnership is also the longest opening stand in T20I history, topping Kamran Akmal-Salman Butt's 95-ball stand against West Indies in 2010.
