England thrashed India in the first T20I on Friday in Ahmedabad to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. England, who won the toss and opted to field, restricted India to just 124/7 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli registered his third career T20I duck and his first versus England. The Indian skipper has two ducks in his last three innings across formats. Shreyas Iyer slammed his third T20I fifty and a maiden one against England. Notably, the knock of 67 is Iyer's highest score in T20Is. He now has 496 runs in T20Is.
Unique records scripted in the match
This was the first occasion where Adil Rashid opened the bowling for England in T20Is. Meanwhile, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan were both bowled out. This is the first time that both Indian openers were dismissed bowled in a T20I match at home.
England bowlers script these feats
Chris Jordan (1/27) has raced to 67 career T20I scalps. He surpassed the tally of former Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis (66). Adil Rashid (1/14) now has 52 career T20I wickets. He equaled the tally of R Ashwin and Sunil Narine. Playing his eighth T20I, Archer now has 10 wickets. He registered his best bowling figures in T20Is.
Roy and Buttler notch these feats
Jason Roy scored a 32-ball 49. He smashed four fours and three sixes. He also surpassed the 900-run mark in T20Is (939). Jos Buttler (28) raced to 1,579 runs in T20Is. He has surpassed Shakib Al Hasan's tally (1,567). The pair added 72 runs for the first wicket. This is now the third-best opening stand for England against India.
Chahal steers clear of Bumrah in terms of wickets
Yuzvendra Chahal is now the highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is (60). He steered clear of Jasprit Bumrah (59). Chahal has equaled the tally of New Zealand's Mitchell Santner in terms of wickets (60).
