India vs Bangladesh, Test series: Players to watch out for
India and Bangladesh gear up for a two-match Test series, starting at the Chepauk in Chennai on September 19. The 2nd Test will be played in Kanpur. Bangladesh are on a high, having tamed Pakistan 2-0 away in the recently concluded Test series. India are however the favorites, owning an 11-0 win-loss record (2 draws) against Bangladesh. Here are the players to watch.
Ravichandran Ashwin (India)
In 100 Tests, premier off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, owns a tally of 516 wickets at an average of 23.75. He has 36 fifers under his belt. As per ESPNcricinfo, Ashwin owns 363 wickets on home soil at 21.15. 28 of his five-wicket hauls have come at home. The veteran spinner will be relishing the challenge against Bangladesh on turning pitches. He could make a difference.
Virat Kohli (India)
Indian talisman Virat Kohli missed the home Test series against England earlier this year due to personal reasons. However, Kohli will return to the fold in India's middle order against Bangladesh. With a compact Test schedule on offer, Kohli will hope to make use of the same and score runs. Kohli owns 8,848 runs in Tests at 49.15, including 437 versus Bangladesh at 54.62.
Litton Das (Bangladesh)
Litton Das had a fruitful Test series against Pakistan, scoring 56 and 138 in two innings. In the 2nd Test in Rawalpindi, he had come to bat at 26/5 and soon Bangladesh were 26/6. Litton went on to defy Pakistan with a century as Bangladesh won. He owns 2,655 runs in Tests at 36.87 with the help of 4 tons and 17 fifties.
Mehidy Hasan (Bangladesh)
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has elevated himself to one of the best all-rounders. It was Mehidy, who joined Litton at 26/6 versus Pakistan in the 2nd Test. The two floored Pakistan with a majestic stand. Mehidy's all-round show stood tall in the series. He claimed 10 wickets and smashed two fifties (77 and 78). He would be useful with his contributions against Team India.
