India vs Bangladesh, Tests: Key players to watch out for
India and Bangladesh are set to feature in a two-match Test series, starting November 14 in Indore. India had beaten Bangladesh 2-1 in the recently-concluded T20I series. The hosts have won both their Test series so far in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship and are the favorites. Here are the players to watch out for in the series against Bangladesh.
Rohit Sharma could once again power India
Rohit Sharma started a new chapter in his Test career as an opener in the three-match series against South Africa. He excelled and went on to amass the most runs in the series (529) that included three centuries. He will look to continue in the same vein. Rohit will want to add more solidity alongside opening partner Mayank Agarwal.
Ajinkya Rahane will aim to continue his run this year
India's vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has battled past poor form of late. The senior cricketer has amassed 505 runs in six Tests this year at an average of 72.14. He has smashed two hundreds and three fifties. Rahane provides the stability in the middle order and is a carrier of key partnerships. He has done well and rotated the strike at will.
Umesh and Ashwin the trump cards in bowling
India's ace spinner R Ashwin showed why he is a champion bowler in Tests. The senior off-spinner claimed 15 wickets in the series against South Africa at 25.26. Ashwin has 357 scalps in 68 Tests and will once again look to determine himself. Pacer Umesh Yadav featured in two Tests against SA and claimed 11 scalps. He could be an ideal choice against Bangladesh.
Mominul and Mehidy the main bets for Bangladesh
All eyes will be on left-handed batsman Mominul Haque, who has been appointed skipper for the Test series against India. He has a decent average of 41.47 and will want to be defiant against the Indian bowlers. Mehidy Hasan is Bangladesh's main spin option. He has impressed largely with 89 wickets in 20 matches. The player can also offer some resistance with the bat.
