Women's T20 World Cup: India beat Bangladesh- Records broken
India beat Bangladesh runs to register their second consecutive victory in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020. India are unbeaten so far in the tournament as they had defeated Australia in their opener. Batting first, India posted 142/6 as once again Shafali Verma played a solid inning atop. Here is the match report.
How did the match pan out?
Batting first, India put up 142/6 at the end of 20 overs, riding on the knocks of Shdfali Verma (39) and Jemimah Rodrigues (34). Debutant Richa Ghosh and Harmanpreet Kaur failed to deliver, but Veda Krishnamurthy steadied the ship. Shikha Pandey removed Shamima Sultana early on before Bangladesh took control. However, Arundhati Reddy and Poonam Yadav provided India quick breakthroughs to seal the game.
Poonam Yadav has become the highest wicket-taker
Having taken seven wickets in two matches, leg spinner Poonam Yadav has become the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. Second on the list is Shikha Pandey with four scalps. The former took a four-wicket haul against Australia in the tournament opener and took three in the game against Bangladesh. Besides, Shikha snapped up two in today's match.
India have registered the highest total in the tournament
The World Cup is well turning out to be a low scoring affair as India's 142 against Bangladesh has become the highest total. The previous highest total was recorded by Team India in the first game when they piled up 132/4 against Australia. They were successful in defending the total and later won by 17 runs.
